“Since the start of a full-scale war in Ukraine, Valeria put aside the checkers board for the first time in four years. In a few days, the family left for Western Ukraine, where they spent the first months of the war. And when they returned to Kyiv, little Lera asked her mother: “How can I help our soldiers?”. And she started doing what she does best – playing chess, but for donates. Since then, a month has passed since Valeriya almost every day, after football training, distance learning and activities at a children’s camp, plays every evening with passersby for donate to the Armed Forces. To date, Valeriya has already raised UAH 70 thousand playing the game,” the message says.
Valeria Yezhova plays checkers with passersby near the Osokorky metro station in Kyiv. Everyone can play with Valeria under the following conditions: if the opponent wins the girl, then he couldn’t put money in the box for donations; if he loses, then he gives the money he wants. On average, people give UAH 20-100. Some people give money without even playing checkers.
Recently, the girl donated 21,000 hryvnias, which she raised in this way, to the Serhiy Prytula Foundation – the volunteer even burst into tears.
