A priest of the UOC-MP was exchanged for 28 Ukrainian prisoners of war

This was stated by the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Maliuk, in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

“The enemy values their agents in cassocks very highly”, he said.

Counterintelligence measures against the UOC-MP began last year and resulted in criminal proceedings against 61 clergymen. The Security Service has also revoked the Ukrainian citizenship of 19 UOC-MP priests based on their actions.

Maliuk emphasized that wearing a cassock and burning incense does not exempt anyone from criminal responsibility, and no indulgences are granted. The law is being strictly enforced, regardless of ecclesiastical status.
