Oleksandr Vozniy, head of the Department of Ecology of the Kyiv City State Administration, told about this in an interview with the publication “The Village”.
Thanks to composting, organic waste can be turned into valuable fertilizer.
In Kyiv, the collection of plastic, paper, and glass has been established, while composting of waste at the city level has not yet been organized. Currently, either private enterprises or public organizations are engaged in this.
The issue of composting will be resolved after the system is operational.
“I have been to the United States, studying their composting experience. Various impurities get into the organic matter – plastic, other substances. Therefore, it is taken to a special plant, which carries out sorting. Only after that, organic waste is sent for composting,” Oleksandr Vozniy explains.
