“The Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic […] designates, in accordance with the resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the current Russian regime as terrorist,” the document reads.
The Chamber of Deputies condemned Russian attacks on the Ukrainian civilians and key energy infrastructure, “which are an obvious attempt to achieve political goals through the intimidation of the civilian population and correspond to terrorist methods”.
According to the document, such attacks cause extensive power, water and heat supply restrictions or interruptions, endangering the civilian population.
The shelling and deployment of military units in the area of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) pose a threat not only on the territory of Ukraine. Direct or indirect threats to use nuclear weapons, as well as false and unsubstantiated accusations of Ukraine planning to use the weapons of mass destruction, are a dangerous escalation of tensions and a threat to the European security, the Chamber of Deputies noted.
Additionally, the Chamber of Deputies reiterated that they did not recognize the results of the so-called referendums held by the Russian Federation on the sovereign territory of Ukraine in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, which aimed to legitimize the Russian aggression and annexation of the Ukrainian territory.
The Chamber of Deputies also expressed support for the efforts of the Czech Foreign Affairs Minister to establish a special tribunal for the prosecution of crimes of aggression, as well as the investigation by the International Criminal Court leading to the prosecution of war crimes and crimes against humanity, and further support and gratitude to the Government of the Czech Republic for the assistance it had provided to Ukraine so far, namely humanitarian, economic, political, diplomatic and military.
