Death Toll from Russian Strike on Hypermarket in Kharkiv Rises

This information was provided by Oleg Synehubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration (OVA).

“Unfortunately, a 40-year-old man who was wounded in the enemy strike on ‘Epicenter’ has died in the hospital”, he reported. According to Synehubov, the man was in the burn intensive care unit, with flame burn injuries covering 50% of his body.

The man became the 19th fatality from the Russian attack on the hypermarket. Around 50 people were injured in the incident.

As a reminder, on Saturday, May 25, Russian terrorists shelled Kharkiv multiple times. Explosions were heard around 4 PM, and it was later revealed that the occupiers had struck the “Epicenter” hypermarket.

At the time of the attack, there were many people inside the shopping center. The attack caused a large-scale fire. It was reported that hypermarket employees were among the dead, and more than ten staff members could not be reached.

According to the police, the bodies of some of the victims are unidentifiable without DNA laboratory tests due to the fire.

Later, a video of the moment of the strike on the “Epicenter” hypermarket in Kharkiv appeared online.

The footage was taken inside the store. “It is clear that people were completely unprepared for such an attack, they were at their workplaces and going about their business,” commented Serhiy Bolvinov, Head of the Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kharkiv Region.
