Due to the shelling, Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant has been blacked out again, posing a threat of catastrophe

This was reported by the State Enterprise “National Nuclear Energy Generating Company “Energoatom,” which includes the ZNPP.

“For the seventh time since the occupation by Russian terrorists on March 4, 2022, Zaporizhzhia NPP has entered a blackout mode. After losing external power, which is vital for the operation of the cooling pumps of the nuclear material in the power units, all the diesel generators of the NPP were automatically activated. The fuel supply is sufficient for ten days. The countdown has begun”, the state-owned company stated.

The company emphasized that if it is not possible to restore external power to the plant during this time, an accident with radiation consequences for the entire world could occur.

“The further occupation of Zaporizhzhia NPP by Russia, the dominance of an illegitimate and unqualified Russian leadership at the plant, which bears no responsibility for the nuclear and radiation safety of the facility, constantly pushes Zaporizhzhia NPP towards irreparable consequences”, added “Energoatom.”

Recall that Zaporizhzhia NPP was last completely blacked out on March 9th due to the massive Russian missile shelling of Ukraine.
