Estonia will provide Ukraine with assistance of €1.2 billion until 2027

This was announced by the President of Estonia Alar Karis at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to him, this is the size of Estonia’s long-term assistance to Ukraine until 2027.

“Ukraine needs more and better weapons. The capabilities of the EU’s defense industry need to be increased so that Ukraine gets what it needs not tomorrow but today. There should be no restrictions on supplying weapons to Ukraine”, he said.

Karis emphasized that Estonia has specific plans for the reconstruction of Ukraine, for which it would also be fair to use frozen Russian funds.

“Russia wants to conquer not only Ukraine. It has challenged the entire democratic world”, emphasized the President of Estonia.

Karis stressed that within the EU, Ukraine has already received assistance of about €85 billion, but this support needs to be continued.

“Estonia’s long-term contribution from the beginning of the full-scale war until 2027 will be €1.2 billion. Ukraine needs more and better weapons. We must strengthen military production within the EU so that Ukraine gets what it needs. And not tomorrow, but already today”, he said.

In response, Zelensky noted that Estonia has already provided Ukraine with 17 packages of defense support.

“You have shown leadership by offering all of Europe cooperation in ensuring our artillery, coalition shells. We appreciate that you have chosen a very thorough, long-term approach to supporting Ukraine”, he said.

It is worth mentioning that on January 11, during his visit to Tallinn, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with President of Estonia Alar Karis.

Earlier, it was reported that on January 10, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced his visits to Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia.
