EU-flag with dramatic sky
This was announced by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.
This decision was reached at a special summit of EU leaders in Brussels. The agreement came after Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban withdrew his veto.
According to the deal, €17 billion will be allocated as direct grants, and the remaining €33 billion will be provided as loans. The grants will be used to cover Ukraine’s most urgent needs, such as infrastructure restoration, humanitarian aid, and economic support. The loans will be extended to finance long-term recovery and development projects in Ukraine.
As explained by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, this involves €50 billion over four years, with €39 billion as direct financial support. Ukraine expects to receive €18 billion of this support in the current year.
