Financial Times names Zelensky person of the year

“Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the FT’s person of the year 2022. The 44-year-old has earnt a place in history for his extraordinary display of leadership and fortitude,” reads the publication on FT’s Twitter account.

Zelensky’s decision to remain in Kyiv rather than accept an evacuation offer was one of the most consequential moments in the war, the media outlet says.

“I am more responsible than I am brave . . . I just hate to let people down,” the President of Ukraine told the Financial Times in an interview.
