This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.
The message noted that the Kyiv City Center for the Rehabilitation of Children with Disabilities works as usual, but in compliance with the requirements of martial law.
“With the beginning of the Russian invasion, one of the most important tasks was to evacuate children with disabilities. At that time, we centrally sent more than 3,000 families with children with disabilities to European countries. Currently, forced migrants continue to arrive in Kyiv, including those whose children with disabilities who need rehabilitation. The Kyiv City Center for the Rehabilitation of Children with Disabilities operates as usual and provides services for forced migrants as well. In two months of operation, 500 new children were accepted to the Center, a quarter of which are internally displaced persons,” said Maryna Honda, deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration.
She also added that the Center strictly adheres to the requirements of martial law and during an air raid siren all patients and specialists go down to the shelter, where they can continue their classes.
“The center has equipped the shelter in such a way that specialists can continue rehabilitation classes. The shelter is provided with water supply, has bathrooms and showers. All employees are instructed and know what to do in the event of an emergency,” Honda said.
In addition to rehabilitation services, the Center also offers food parcels from the Lithuanian Food for Ukraine foundation and the Red Cross Society of Ukraine. These food parcels are issued only to families with children with disabilities and are located and registered in Kyiv. To date, 1,300 families have received assistance. The total number of food parcels is 3,727.
