In December 2023, the median salary of developers was $3,300, which is $135 less than six months ago, according to a study by DOU.
The most significant decrease in salaries was observed among Senior-level professionals (down by $163 to $4,738). Middle-level salaries decreased by $100 to $2,500.
The median salary for beginners was $950 compared to $1,000 six months ago. Interns can now expect an average of $350 instead of $450.
Salaries of the most experienced developers – Tech Lead and Architect levels – remain at the previous level, with a slight decrease in Team Lead salaries (by $25 compared to the summer of 2023).
Backend and Mobile specialists continue to earn the most, with salary reductions felt less than among Frontend and Full Stack professionals.
Median salaries for Frontend specialists of all levels, except Lead+, have decreased. Among Full Stack professionals, this mainly affected juniors (down by $80) and seniors (down by $450).
In terms of geography, developer salaries have decreased in most cities, including Kyiv and Lviv. In Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Chernivtsi, median salaries remain at the same level, while in Lutsk and Poltava, there is a slight increase.
The study involved 5,959 developers of all titles and specializations living in Ukraine or temporarily residing abroad but planning to return, surveyed through questionnaires.
