In Ukraine, the immediate perpetrators of the shootings on Maidan on February 20, 2014, will be prosecuted

This information was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General and the State Bureau of Investigations.

According to the investigation, as a result of their actions, 48 protesters were killed, and 90 received gunshot wounds, all by order of the higher leadership. After committing the crime, the weapons were damaged and concealed, but a portion of them was found and identified. Specifically, the six former officers of the “Berkut” unit are accused of obstructing peaceful protest actions, committing a terrorist act, causing serious bodily harm, deliberate murder, and abuse of official powers.

Currently, all the accused are hiding in Russia and have become its citizens. Regarding another 14 police officers from this unit, also implicated in the shootings, the investigation is ongoing and in its final stages.

The prosecutor’s office does not disclose the names and ranks of the “Berkut” officers but only publishes blurred photos of the suspects, stating that they were part of the so-called “black company” of “Berkut.”

According to Ukrainska Pravda, the individuals in question are believed to be Dmytro Isakov, Roman Panchenko, Yevhen Pronoza, Yevheniy Taranukha, Volodymyr Trepachov, and Oleg Shabash.

It is worth noting that on October 4, the State Bureau of Investigations sent indictments to court against the former leadership of Ukraine for organizing the dispersal of Maidan and the shootings.
