Italy’s defense ministry to ask parliament to approve aid deliveries to Ukraine in 2023

This was stated by Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, reports with reference to The Guardian.

As noted, the Italian authorities can send aid to Ukraine each time without the permission of the parliament based on the decree that expires at the end of the year.

“The defense [ministry] will shortly propose to renew that same measure, extending it to all of 2023,” Crosetto said in an interview with Il Foglio newspaper.

According to the minister, Italy will continue to supply weapons, as it has done in the past, “in the times and ways that we will agree with our Atlantic allies and with Kyiv.”

Crosetto belongs to Brothers of Italy, the right-wing party of new Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who is a staunch supporter of Ukraine.

As reported, on October 18, Minister of Defense Oleksii Reznikov of Ukraine stated that Italy had provided Ukraine with a new package of military aid.

In early October, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said that the new government of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni intends to approve a sixth package of military aid for Ukraine since Russian invasion.
