Kyiv residents ask to resume the work of two central subway stations: What the Kyiv Metro office say

A petition has appeared on the website of the Kyiv City Council with the demand to open the Maidan Nezalezhnosti, Khreshchatyk subway stations and the transfer hub between them.

“Kyiv metro is public transport. Therefore, it should fully work according to its intended purpose. There should not be different concerts or the satisfaction of someone’s whishes. Stopping the operation of the transfer hub between Maidan Nezalezhnosti and Khreshchatyk stations and the stations themselves creates a lot of inconvenience, two transfers must be made, which is an unnecessary waste of time and unnecessary movements,” wrote the author of the petition, Serhii Ivakh.

So far, this petition has been supported by a little more than 40 people.

As we wrote, so far these stations are not used for their intended purpose. Sometimes press conferences are held here with the president and distinguished guests (such as British billionaire Branson participation of the) participation. Sometimes concerts are held here for military families.

Both places are in the city center, next to the government quarter.

We have nothing to do with concerts and other events at “Khreshchatyk” and “Maidan Nezalezhnosti” stationsn – KP “Kyiv Metropoliten” reported. In this case, the subway only provides its platform.

“During the martial law, the company performs executive functions. The full work of all  subway stations and interchanges of the metro will be resumed after receiving the order”, Dmytro Pinchuk, head of the strategic communications department of KP “Kyiv Metropoliten”.

Earlier we wrote that an exhibition of children’s drawings about the war will be opened at the “Golden Gate” (Zoloti Vorota) metro station.
