Netherlands will provide Ukraine with 122 million euros for artillery shells and cybersecurity

This was reported by the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Kajsa Ollongren. The assistance was agreed upon at a meeting of the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group (UDCG), which includes 50 partner countries. They assist Ukraine in purchasing equipment and resources for protection against Russia.

The assistance package includes:

  • 87 million euros for the purchase of artillery shells;
  • 10 million euros to invest in improving Ukraine’s cybersecurity;
  • 25 million euros will be transferred to the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU) for the purchase of weapons.

It is noted that the contribution to Ukraine’s cybersecurity will be directed, among other things, to the creation and expansion of online infrastructure in Ukraine, as the country has already faced several hacking and cyber attacks.

Minister Kajsa Ollongren called on EU countries not to stop providing assistance to Ukraine and to continue it in the long term.

“It is very important to support Ukraine not only in the short term but also in the long term. It is important to show now that we are helping Ukraine. They are fighting for their country and for the values we share: the right to self-determination, freedom, equality, human rights”, she emphasized.

Recall that in early January, the National Guard reported that they had already received and used previously provided medical and humanitarian assistance, including field hospitals, transferred by the government of the Netherlands. In total, there are already eight of them. Earlier, as part of the first support package for Ukraine in 2024, the Dutch government allocated 102 million euros for humanitarian aid and urgent needs. The amount is part of the government’s reserved assistance of over 2 billion euros.
