Night attack on Kyiv: Over 20 rockets and drones shot down, civilian casualties

This information was conveyed by the spokesperson of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Mykhailo Shamanov, on KYIV24.

“A nocturnal aerial attack. Kyiv has not experienced such a powerful assault since spring. The enemy executed a massive combined attack using drones and rockets. Initially, the aggressors employed Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs. Several groups of drones were headed towards Kyiv from different directions. Soon after, rockets were launched towards the capital from strategic Tu-95MS aircraft. In total, over 20 hostile targets were neutralized by the air defense forces and means (the exact count, as well as the type of rockets and UAVs, will be officially disclosed by the Air Forces). Debris from the downed rockets was observed falling in various districts of the capital. Unfortunately, there have been casualties”, he reported.

Mykhailo Shamanov also added that within the territory of an enterprise in the Shevchenkivskyi district, remnants of Russian rockets killed two individuals: security personnel of the enterprise, aged 26 and 36. Another person sustained injuries.

He noted that the impact of the fallen rocket debris caused destruction and fires in the Shevchenkivskyi and Darnytskyi districts. The debris fell in non-residential areas, igniting fires in those locations. Currently, firefighting units of the State Emergency Service are working to extinguish the blazes. Operational updates are being refined.

As a reminder, a total of 43 rockets and UAVs out of 44 were shot down by air defense forces over Ukraine during the night.
