Oleksiy Kuleba, the head of Kyiv Region Military Administration, announced this.
According to him, the preparation of educational institutions for the new school year continues in the Kyiv region, and 1,016 shelters are recommended for use.
“The educational process in the region should start on September 1 in face-to-face format where it possible. When preparing for it, the primary focus is on the child and teaching staff safety. To do this, since the beginning of July, commissions have started working in the districts and territorial communities of the region to check the state of readiness of shelters in educational institutions,” Kuleba said.
The commissions have already completed this work and recommended 1,016 structures for their intended use. In particular, we are talking about shelter in the educational institutions and in the institutions and organizations located nearby. Most of them are the simplest shelters. Some shelters are currently processing repair work.
“We make every effort to ensure that the shelter have all the necessary communications — heat, light, ventilation and water. This is necessary so that students and teachers can stay in shelters even during a long air alert. We are doing everything to prepare schools for full-time work,” Kuleba said.
