Over 200,000 Ukrainian refugees have left the Czech Republic

These figures were reported by Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, Vít Rakušan, as per novinky.cz.

“Yes, over 200,000 of them have already left the Czech Republic during the war. These people either went to another EU member state or returned to Ukraine”, he stated.

At the same time, he refuted claims made by some politicians and members of the public that the Czech authorities do not know how many and which people from Ukraine are in the Czech Republic.

Out of nearly 359,000 registered Ukrainians, approximately 115,000 are already working legally. According to the most conservative estimates, legally employed Ukrainians will pay between 500 million and 700 million euros in taxes to the Czech state budget just this year.

However, Rakušan warned that those who do not personally appear at the Department of Asylum and Migration Policy by the end of September will lose their temporary protection status from the Czech Republic.

It is worth noting that the Swiss government has developed a strategy for repatriating Ukrainian refugees home after the expiration of the S status. To encourage people to voluntarily return, the country offers them financial assistance ranging from 1,000 to 4,000 Swiss francs (approximately 1,037 to 4,150 euros) per person.
