Poland has preliminarily confirmed that debris from a Russian missile has fallen onto its territory

This information was reported by the Polish radio station RMF FM, citing unofficial conclusions from the Military Air Force Institute of Technology.

Poland does not possess any such missiles or systems capable of launching them. If it is finally confirmed that this is a Х-55 cruise missile, it was launched from a Russian aircraft and entered Poland through the eastern border.

In mid-December 2022, the Russians massively shelled Ukraine, using aircraft stationed in Belarus. At that time, a Su-34 bomber appeared near NATO airspace, prompting NATO fighter jets to take off.

An object appeared on Poland’s radars, which had flown into the country from Belarus. Polish services tracked the object, but lost it near Bydgoszcz. This happened about two kilometers from the place where missile debris was accidentally found at the end of April.

Sources from RMF FM reported that searches were conducted immediately after the incident, but were discontinued due to unsuccessful attempts, including difficult weather conditions. At that time, the front was passing through Poland with strong snowstorms.

Recall that on November 15, 2022, a missile struck the territory of Poland in the village of Perevodyv near the border with Ukraine. The incident occurred during the Russian attack on Ukrainian cities and energy facilities. This was the first incident of a missile (compared to previous drone incursions) that landed and exploded on the territory of NATO countries during the 2022 Russian-Ukrainian war. Two people were killed in the attack. The Polish Air Force sent fighters from the Tomaszow Lubelski airbase. The army and prosecutor’s office arrived at the farm where the missile fell.
