Poland will appeal to the European Commission to impose full sanctions on agricultural products from Russia and Belarus

This was stated by the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk.

“Today I will address the Speaker of the Sejm in Warsaw with a proposal for a resolution of the Polish Sejm, calling on the European Commission to impose full sanctions on Russian and Belarusian food products”, said Tusk.

He believes that a joint decision by the EU will enable more effective protection of the European, Lithuanian, and Polish markets.

Recall that in Vilnius, the head of the Polish government met with Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė. The politicians discussed agriculture and the issue of importing agricultural products from Ukraine to EU countries.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal mentioned that the problem of Polish farmers is caused by the export of agricultural products from Russia and Belarus.

Numerous farmer protests have been taking place throughout Poland for several consecutive days. Their participants block roads, highways, motorways, and border crossings with Ukraine. Farmers protest against the influx of Ukrainian goods and against the European Union’s policy associated with the so-called “Green Course”.

The organizers of the blockade in Poland, the recently created “Committee for the Protection of Carriers and Employers in the Transport Industry”, claim that the action is economic and not political. However, their actions have not found support among the authorities and other organizations of carriers. Nevertheless, the protest is being actively supported by the consistent anti-Ukrainian and anti-European party “Konfederacja”, whose representatives are the most vocal in expressing anti-Ukrainian statements, fighting against Ukrainian refugees in the media, and already billing for assistance to Ukraine and its citizens.

At the same time, as journalists from the “Ukrainska Pravda” found out, thousands of trucks with Russian grain and other agricultural products freely pass through the border from Belarus to Poland.
