Putin made this announcement during a meeting with Troshev, as reported by the Russian publication “Nastoyashchee Vremya” (“Current Time”).
“At our recent meeting, we discussed that you will be engaged in forming volunteer units capable of carrying out various combat tasks in the Eastern European region”, the Russian dictator said.
Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Yunus-Bek Bamatgireyevich is in charge of combat training.
What is known about the head of the Wagner Group, Andrey Troshev: According to some reports, Troshin oversaw the security service of Wagner and, during the coup attempt by Prigozhin, refused to rebel and provided information to the FSB.
According to open sources, Troshev was the chief of staff of the Wagner Group in Syria. He participated in the war in Afghanistan and the Second Chechen War. According to UK sanctions, Troshev was the CEO of the Wagner PMC, which supported the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria.
Ukraine imposed sanctions against Troshev in February 2023 for active participation in the war.
It should be noted that on September 29, British intelligence confirmed information that fighters from the so-called Wagner Group had begun to redeploy to Ukraine.
