The Russian embassy in Belarus, which Gryzlov heads, has published his statement.
“With his statement and decree, Zelensky has effectively put an end not only to the negotiation process but also to the not fully closed window of opportunities for resolving the conflict at the negotiating table, preferring war to diplomacy,” the Russian ambassador believes.
Gryzlov repeated the Russian propaganda thesis that it was impossible to agree with the current government of Ukraine not only because of its inability to negotiate but also because of Kyiv’s complete loss of state sovereignty, lack of independence in decision-making, and fear of showing political will.
“With such “negotiators” who do not decide anything, Russia has nothing to agree on. We will make agreements based on all the necessary conditions when the goal of the “special military operation” is achieved. It will definitely be achieved regardless of any steps taken by Zelensky and his henchmen,” he added.
The day before, Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree disbanding the delegation representing Ukraine at the talks in the Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement in Donbas.
As previously reported, the TCG was created in 2014 as means to facilitate a diplomatic resolution to the war in the Donbas region of Ukraine within the Minsk agreements. Two days before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Vladimir Putin, after recognizing the independence of the “LDNR,” declared the Minsk agreements “non-existent.”
