Eugene Vasylenko, the spokesperson for the State Emergency Service (SES) of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, provided this information in an interview with KYIV24.
“In the evening, the enemy carried out two missile strikes with S-300 missiles on the Holodnohirskyi district of Kharkiv. This is the central historical district of the city. One of the missiles hit the ground, damaging residential and non-residential buildings. The other targeted a three-story building, which is partially destroyed. SES units, a total of 13 pieces of equipment, have been sent to the scene”, he said.
Vasylenko added that there were outbreaks of fire in the buildings, covering an area of about 60 square meters. Firefighters promptly extinguished the flames. Thirty people were evacuated from the buildings, and one woman was rescued. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, with the involvement of SES and municipal services. According to the latest information, there are no individuals under the debris.
Late in the evening on January 16, the Russians launched two missile strikes on Kharkiv using S-300 missiles. There is information about 17 wounded and 1 fatality. As a result of the shelling, 17 civilians were affected: 16 women aged 38 to 90 and a 31-year-old man. Three of them received assistance on-site, and one man lost his life.
