The Exhibition “Each of us is a warrior” has opened in Kyiv

Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko took part in the exhibition’s opening ceremony, Ukrinform reports.

“The moral support of the soldiers of the armed forces is extremely important. I am grateful to the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance for the fact that such exhibitions are constantly organized, even abroad. In particular, the exhibition of broken Russian equipment, which is now on Khreshchatyk Street, was also abroad,” Tkachenko said.

Tkachenko noted that the head of the UINR, Anton Drobovych, who has been in the Territorial Defense Forces since day one, helps support the narratives and ideological component in the ranks of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

He also noted that the activity of the Institute is necessary to understand the depth of traditions that Ukrainians continue to cherish now.

“Our history is more than 31 years old. This is the story of the constant struggle for the right to identity of the Ukrainian people. Today, we understand even better that this is a war for our identity and traditions,” the minister said.

The head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance for Independence Day emphasized that the exhibition reveals the message that the territorial defense Forces are not just a legislative novel, strengthening the country’s defense capabilities, but “something that has been with us for 1,000 years.”

“We can see that people of completely different specialties are ready to defend their land both in the time of the prince, and during the time of the Cossacks, and during the time of the Ukrainian People’s Republic,” Drobovich said.

According to Oleg Palchyk, a photographer with 15 years of experience, who is a soldier of the Territorial defense and a co-author of the project, the focus is on the eyes of the soldiers. “The main focus in the portraits is the emotion and history of the fighter in his eyes. The depicted people were either on the front line or had just returned from the war. And with these fresh feelings, we “caught” them and photographed them,” he said.

At the same time, Palchyk emphasized that there is no fear in the eyes of the Ukrainian military, and at the same time, there is no desire to destroy everything.

“They are ready to defend their Country, destroy the enemy to the last, but it does not bring them any pleasure or anything like that. This is necessary work. This can be seen in the eyes and emotions,” he concluded.

Captain Serhii Fedorenko emphasized that the project makes it possible, on the one hand, to honor the dead who fought against the russian troops from the first days of the war, and on the other hand, to support the brigades of the Territorial Defense Forces, which are now holding back the enemy on the first line of defense.

The third aspect of the exhibition was a kind of answer to the question “What is strength?” The answer of the Territorial Defense Forces is clear: the strength is in courage, stability, resistance, and the result indicated on the banners.

The exposition of the exhibition is located on Kontraktova Square, between the metro exit on Spasskay Street and to the Hryhoriy Skovoroda monument.

The project is a series of banners, which combine photo portraits of soldiers from the ranks of the Territorial Defence Forces with informative messages about the historical formation of the “People’s militia”. According to the organizers, the goal of the initiative was to show the importance of readiness to defend one’s home and one’s country and the role of the Territorial Defense Forces in the defense of Ukraine. Kyiv residents and guests of the city can get acquainted with the exhibition for a month.
