The Kyiv funicular is closing for scheduled repairs after conservation work on vestibules finishes

The vestibules’ decorations are especially valuable.

They include stained glass windows made by Ukrainian artists Valentyn Zadorozhny and Mykola Shkaraputa.

Conservation work on the funicular was able to be completed thanks to volunteers. The upper station’s stained glass windows were covered with 12 wooden boards and reinforced with fire-resistant tarpaulin and galvanized iron sheets. Similar work was carried out on the lower station.

The funicular now has to undergo scheduled annual repairs so that it can open to visitors as soon as possible.
