The Verkhovna Rada has adopted a law on advertising in accordance with EU norms

This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

The draft law prohibits any advertising by residents of the aggressor country and also prohibits the inclusion of discriminatory statements or images that incite hatred, enmity, or cruelty in advertising.

“We are also removing archaic norms and simplifying the requirements for advertising services provided through electronic communications. In addition, we maintain the prohibition of advertising tobacco, electronic smoking devices, and liquids for them in the legislation”, explained Deputy Head of the “Servant of the People” faction, Yevheniya Kravchuk.

The following changes are being made to the Law on Advertising:

  • Clear criteria are introduced for identifying advertising that falls under the jurisdiction of Ukraine.
  • Requirements for the presence of necessary licenses and permits for advertised goods and services are clarified.
  • Regulation of social advertising is improved, for example, the display of weapons and references to the advertiser are allowed if it is a state body or an international organization.
  • Rules for interrupting the broadcast of films, news programs, and programs for children with advertisements are simplified.
  • Advertising quotas in audiovisual media are increased to 20%.

The draft law “On Advertising” is one of the European integration laws, along with the “Law on Media.”
