The Verkhovna Rada, in its first reading, supported the ban on religious organizations associated with Russia

This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

As a result, the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC MP) could be prohibited in Ukraine.

It should be noted that 267 MPs voted in favor of this decision.

Furthermore, 11 representatives of the “Platform for Life and Peace” voted against, and 3 from “Renewal of Ukraine”. Two MPs abstained, and 17 did not vote.

As a reminder, since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression, according to the materials of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), 68 criminal proceedings have been initiated against representatives of the UOC (MP), with 16 involving bishops of the Church.

Among the uncovered crimes are 20 cases of state treason, collaboration, and assisting the aggressor country.

Furthermore, law enforcement agencies are investigating 18 cases related to the incitement of religious hatred in public, as well as the sale of firearms and the distribution of child pornography.

As a result of operational and investigative actions, 26 individuals who are representatives of the UOC (MP) have been informed of suspicion, and 19 offenders have already received court verdicts.

For instance, on September 26, in the Kherson region, the SІU arrested a priest of the UOC (MP) for trading in Russian weapons.

On October 6, the Security Service identified new instances of criminal activity by the leader of the Cherkasy Eparchy of the UOC (MP). Despite being under house arrest during the investigation of previous crimes, he continued to publicly incite religious hatred.
