The Verkhovna Rada will not consider the draft law on mobilization in its original version

This was announced by the Deputy Head of the “Servant of the People” faction, Yevheniia Kravchuk.

According to her, a version developed by the Committee on Security and Defense will be proposed. This week, a large interdepartmental working group will start working on a compromise version of the document.

The working group will take into account the remarks of the Human Rights Commissioner, Dmytro Lubinets, who stated that some provisions of the draft law contradict the Constitution. The group will also address concerns regarding corrupt practices.

It should be noted that on the evening of December 25, the government introduced draft laws No. 10378 and No. 10379 to the Parliament. The first document envisages changes to mobilization and military service, while the second strengthens responsibility for military offenses.

If the mobilization draft law is adopted without significant changes, all men aged 18 to 60 will have 30 days to contact the Territorial Centers for Military Commissariats (TCMC), provide their details, place of residence, etc. They will also be required to carry military registration documents and present them upon demand by TCMC officials or police.

On December 19, during a press conference on the results of the year, Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the military command needs an additional mobilization of about 400,000 to 500,000 people.”
