In Boyarka, near Kyiv, streets named in honor of Fairy Tales

This was announced by the initiators of the renaming – members of the initiative group of the independent NeBo Movement (“Careless Boyarka Residents”).

The message noted that Mykyta Kozhumyaka and Lisova pisnya (Forest Song) streets will appear in Boyarka.

“Local toponymy should be colorful and not only related to personalities. That’s why the streets of Lisova pisnya, Voloshkova, Vesnyana, Mriya, Nikita Kozhumyaka and Pan Kotskyi appeared in Boyarka,” the report says.

The members of the initiative group say that the main task of de-Russification is not just to remove imperial markers from the territory of Ukraine, but also to create a unique Ukrainian identity of our cities and villages.

“Ukrainian fairy tales are a national folk wisdom, and an educational influence on our children. In addition, no serious matter can be done without a bit of humor and positivity,” the organization noticed.

In addition, the streets of Simon Petlyura and Roman Dashkevych will appear in Boyarka – personalities who are closely related to Boyarka through their activities. The street of Sholom Aleichem appeared, whose character Tevye the milkman also lived in Boyberik (that is, Boyarka).

The residents of Boyarka also paid tribute to local cultural figures – local historian and writer Ivan Ivanov, poet Yevgeny Zozula, creative association “Boyarski masters”, journalist Vitaly Kotsyuk, scientists Hryhoriy Panych and Oleksandr Topachevsky, artist Yuriy Gorbachev.
