U.S. sees no signs of Ukraine preparing to use “dirty bomb” on own soil – White House

That’s according to John Kirby, the strategic communications coordinator of the White House National Security Council, who spoke with journalists at a telephone briefing.

“We are taking that seriously, and we are monitoring as best as we can. But I can also say, we just see no indication of preparations at this point,” Kirby said.

He once again emphasized Washington’s position that the statements of the Russian side about the alleged preparation by Ukraine to deploy a “dirty bomb” on its own territory are false.

In this regard, the White House official recalled that Ukraine’s top diplomat Dmytro Kuleba invited an IAEA mission to visit nuclear facilities in Ukraine in order to refute Russia’s lies. This is a high level of transparency that the U.S. welcomes, Kirby noted.

At the same time, he pointed out, everyone saw how in the past the Russians “have, on occasion, blamed others for things that that they were planning to do.”

The representative of the U.S. administration once again assured that the American side is carefully monitoring the situation.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Sunday held phone calls with the defense chiefs of several Western nations to express “concern” over what he alleged was Ukraine’s intention to use a highly radioactive “dirty bomb.”

Soon, the USA, France, and Great Britain issued a joint statement, condemning Moscow’s false attempts to accuse Kyiv of being ready to use a “dirty bomb” on its own soil and confirming the steadfast support of Ukraine.
