Ukraine and Norway have agreed to commence negotiations on security guarantees

This was reported by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky announced that he had a conversation with the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre.

“We have agreed to start negotiations on a bilateral security guarantees document based on the Vilnius Declaration of the G7”, he said.

The politicians also discussed developments on the frontline and Ukraine’s priority defense needs. They talked about further strengthening our soldiers, including air defense for the protection of critical infrastructure and the Black Sea grain corridor.

Special attention was given to the Middle East. Zelensky and Støre agreed that further escalation is unacceptable and called on all sides to avoid civilian casualties.

Zelensky also expressed gratitude to Norway for their recent military assistance package and long-term support.

It’s worth noting that on October 11, it became known that the Norwegian Government decided to provide Ukraine with an additional 200 million Norwegian kroner for demining territories affected by hostilities. It should be noted that with this amount, Norway’s contribution to this issue more than doubled, as prior to February 2022, Norway had provided 164 million Norwegian kroner for demining.
