This was announced by the head of Naftogaz Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernyshov.
“The first day of spring. This means that we have passed the winter entirely on Ukrainian gas! Historic event”, he said.
Chernyshov mentioned that ten or even two years ago, when the full-scale war began, it was difficult to believe this at all.
However, Ukrainian gas workers managed to do this and will continue to support the trend of Ukraine’s energy independence. It was previously reported that Ukraine is close to self-sufficiency in gas in 2024 and may resume electricity exports in the spring. It is known that Ukraine has not been buying gas from Russia since 2015, importing from European countries and increasing its own extraction.
