This was stated by the Minister of Energy, Herman Halushchenko.
According to him, loading nuclear fuel into the VVER-440 reactor of the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant, produced by Westinghouse Electric Sweden AB with the participation of Energoatom experts, is intended to pave the way for sanctions against Russia in the corresponding industry.
“There are no obstacles left to impose sanctions on the Russian nuclear industry”, Halushchenko stated.
The Minister noted that previously, dependence on nuclear fuel from Russia was an argument for several countries not to introduce restrictions in this industry because it was exclusively produced by Russia.
“Now we are working with several European countries, and relevant documents have been signed. We are working to replace Russia in the nuclear fuel market”, emphasized the Energy Minister.
It is worth recalling that on August 28, Slovakia completely replaced the supply of Russian nuclear fuel for its nuclear power plants.
