Together with its partners, the Czech Republic has raised funds for 300,000 munitions out of the promised 800,000. Germany, France, Lithuania, Latvia, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Norway have already agreed to participate in the initiative.
The delivery of munitions is expected to take place in early summer. After the contracts are signed, it will take several weeks to deliver the ammunition to Ukraine.
Details of the contracts and the origin of the munitions are being kept secret to prevent Russia from disrupting the deliveries.
The Czech initiative to raise funds for the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine is nearing completion. The first munitions could be delivered to Ukraine as early as June.
Recall that on February 17, the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, announced that he had found 800,000 artillery shells of caliber 155 and 122 millimeters for Ukraine. However, funding was needed to purchase the ammunition.
The initiative was supported by Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Denmark, Canada, and France. For example, on March 6, Germany allocated a three-digit million sum for the purchase of munitions. Norway provided over $150 million for munitions.
Later, the Czech Republic purchased shells from third countries. The country plans to deliver them to Ukraine in the near future.
