Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko wrote about this on his Facebook page.
85% voted for replacing the coat of arms of the USSR with a trident, he wrote. The options “remove the coat of arms” and “leave everything unchanged” were supported by 9% and 6% of respondents.
Tkachenko also noted that the option of totally dismantling of the monument is currently not being considered due to the high cost.
“ Yes, we could do everything without consulting the public. Do at our own discretion. But I am sure that dialogue with society is extremely important. It should be initiated on such issues, especially when it costs us nothing.
Today, we are not talking about completely dismantling the monument, because this requires large funds,” he writes.
According to Tkachenko, the survey was the second most popular survey in “Dia” app, about 780,000 people took part in it.
