This was stated by the press service of “Energoatom”.
It is noted that following the power outage, Zaporizhia NPP had to switch to the only available backup line, which is a 330 kV line. This line was repaired and reconnected to the plant only on July 1. It had been damaged since March.
Yesterday, Zaporizhia NPP was able to connect to the only available backup power transmission line for the first time in four months. The connection of Zaporizhia NPP to the sole 330 kV power transmission line (there were six such backup lines before the full-scale war) was lost on March 1. It was restored on the evening of July 1.
The station was seized by the occupiers on March 4, 2022. As of the end of June 2023, Russia has mined the station and approved a plan for its destruction.
As previously reported, emergency training exercises have started in the southern regions of Ukraine in case of an accident at Zaporizhia NPP. According to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, training is taking place in three regions: Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kherson. He noted that these exercises simulate real events, with the scenario being a radiation leak from one of the units of Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant.
