The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported this.
“On Thursday, March 7, 2024, the President of Ukraine approved the candidacy of Valeriy Zaluzhnyi for the position of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has sent a corresponding request to the British side for approval”, the statement said.
Recall that on Thursday evening, February 8, Zelensky announced the decision to dismiss Valeriy Zaluzhny from the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Instead, Oleksandr Syrsky was appointed as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, some Ukrainians were outraged by the president’s decision. The next day, on February 9, a crowd gathered on Independence Square demanding not to dismiss Valeriy Zaluzhny from his position.
