Zelensky cited the reason for Zaluzhny’s dismissal

He revealed this in an interview for FOX News.

“We need to be faster. And to do that, we need to get rid of the bureaucracy we have. Otherwise, we don’t have a chance. Being smart, especially technologically, and of course, being fast. Time is money. And in our case, time is human lives”, he said.

Zelensky noted that the leadership of the Armed Forces needed a reboot, but this does not involve a change in the direction of action. According to him, the need for a change in command is due to the fact that “some things have not changed for a certain period of time”.

When asked if Zaluzhny’s resignation was due to “political competition”, Zelensky noted that “it’s Zaluzhny’s choice. He defended our country. And for that, the president awarded him this title (the Star of the Hero of Ukraine)” and added that “he is very grateful to him”.

Recall that on Thursday evening, February 8, Zelensky announced the decision to dismiss Valeriy Zaluzhny from the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Instead, Oleksandr Syrsky was appointed as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, some Ukrainians were outraged by the president’s decision. The next day, on February 9, a crowd gathered on Independence Square demanding not to dismiss Valeriy Zaluzhny from his position.
