Zelensky, Fiala sign joint declaration on Ukraine’s NATO membership

The signing ceremony took place in the Mariinsky Palace after the talks between Zelensky and Fiala in Kyiv on Monday, October 31.

“Several important documents were signed today. I would especially like to note our joint declaration regarding Ukraine’s membership in NATO. This is the first such document that we adopt with the aim of accelerating our Euro-Atlantic integration. We have reaffirmed with this declaration that we will strengthen cooperation to ensure NATO standards in Ukraine. The Czech Republic has reaffirmed support for our country so that we become a full member of the Alliance as soon as the conditions allow,” Zelensky said.

He added that Ukraine would work so that such joint declarations are adopted with other NATO allies.

The head of state thanked the Czech Republic for its leadership in this regard.

“This is what brings Ukraine and all of Europe closer to long-term peace and security,” the president is convinced.

As reported, on October 31, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, arrived in Kyiv as head of the delegation of the Czech government, for a working visit.

On September 30, President Volodymyr Zelensky, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal signed Ukraine’s application for expedited NATO membership.
