This was stated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, during the parliamentary summit of the Crimean Platform.
According to him, the Russian fleet is no longer capable of operating in the western part of the Black Sea and is “gradually fleeing from Crimea”.
“We are moving towards the realization of our goal more actively than ever. It is the situation around Crimea that best demonstrates how our tactics work. Russian control over the Black Sea and the presence of the Black Sea Fleet created an illusion of Russia’s dominance in the Black Sea, seemingly insurmountable. Now, the illusions are fading”, he stated.
He added that recently the Russian leadership was forced to announce the creation of a new base for the Black Sea Fleet in the occupied territory of Georgia. Nevertheless, Ukrainian military forces will be able to reach Russians wherever they are.
He noted that the Russians do not have a one hundred percent reliable logistics route to Crimea. Although Ukraine has not yet achieved full control of Crimea and its adjacent waters, it is only a matter of time.
Zelensky also reported that pro-Ukrainian sentiments in Crimea are becoming more evident, despite Russia’s continued control of the land. People there are realizing that the occupiers will eventually leave, and they are waiting for Ukraine.
