“The State Budget of Ukraine received grant funds in the amount of US$2 billion from the World Bank’s Trust Fund,” the statement reads.
This is already the second tranche of the grant totaling $4.5 billion. The funds were provided by the United States of America through the World Bank Trust Fund, under the project to support public expenditures to ensure sustainable public administration.
Grant funding will be aimed at providing pension payments and salaries to civil defense personnel, as well as covering health care services under the medical guarantee program.
“From the first days of the Russian criminal invasion of Ukraine, the United States has supported us in all possible ways, including by providing financial assistance for the state budget in the form of grants. Such assistance is extremely important because it not only allows us to preserve the opportunity to make priority social payments on time and in full, but also prevents the debt burden on the state budget from further increasing,” noted Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko.
As reported, after the full-scale invasion by Russia, Ukraine already received $12 billion from the United States in the form of grants. Thus, the US is the largest donor of direct budget aid among all partner countries in 2022.
