This was announced by the CEO of “Ukrenergo”, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi.
“In the video, you can see the equipment in operation, which has enabled the activation of a power transmission line (interconnector) between Ukraine and Poland, which is about 400 km long, providing additional electrical connections between the European and Ukrainian energy systems”, he wrote on Facebook and posted a video.
Kudrytskyi explained that this line will enable an increase in the volume of electricity exports to Europe.
“And in case of need, we will be able to import electricity through this line, because during the war, we need to be prepared for various scenarios, including electricity shortages in the system. Its operation became possible only after the synchronization of the Ukrainian energy system with the European one, which we carried out in March 2022, in the midst of Russian aggression”, he explained.
The CEO of “Ukrenergo” added that no tariff money was used for the construction, but instead, last year’s revenues from electricity exports to the EU were used.
“We hope to soon open electricity trading through this line, which will be a huge step towards the integration of the Ukrainian and Polish energy markets”, Kudrytskyi said.
As previously reported, “Ukrenergo” announced the resumption of electricity exports to two European countries.
