An expert explained why Russians are launching missile attacks on Kyiv almost every day

This was stated by Colonel (Ret.) Roman Svitan of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during an interview on KYIV24.

“Lately, the Russians have been shelling only at night, as if trying to make our air defense systems relax after a nocturnal attack. They worked only at night for several consecutive nights, almost a few weeks, thinking that they have accustomed our air defense systems and we would go to sleep. We stood firm during the night shift and continued to stay alert”, he said.

He explained that the Ukrainian air defense systems operate 24/7, with rotations of personnel. So those who destroyed everything at night will be replaced by other individuals in the morning.

“We have fresh forces ready to respond. That’s why we intercept the daytime attacks. The Russians’ deceptive maneuver failed. The purpose of the attacks is the terrorist genocide of Ukrainians. They are trying to influence the decision-making of our military and political leadership regarding the start of breakthroughs on the front lines. They are very afraid of these breakthroughs. Throughout this week, we will monitor the movement of our troops. The signals will be given by our decision-making centers, possibly located in Kyiv. That’s why the attacks are directed towards Kyiv. It’s a product of blackmail”, Svitan added.

Today, on May 29, during a daytime rocket attack in Kyiv, fragments from the enemy’s attack were recorded in various parts of the city. There were three cases in the Obolonskyi district and one each in the Desnianskyi and Dniprovskyi districts. There were no critical damages. Additionally, a fire broke out on the roof of a two-story building in the Podilskyi district. The fire has been localized. One injured person has been hospitalized. Moreover, rocket debris fell on a road in the affected area.

Furthermore, the head of the regional police reported that in some areas, the attacks caused fires in grassy areas and parts of the forest.

As reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny, Russians launched 11 ballistic missiles “Iskander” towards Kyiv. However, all of them were intercepted and destroyed by the air defense systems.
