This was reported by the head of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, Sergiy Tomilenko, according to Ukrinform.
“At least 25 journalists are in captivity. We call captivity the detention and imprisonment of Crimean Tatar civil journalists. For example, the detention of Vladyslav Yesypenko, Irina Danilovich, who were unjustly detained by the occupying Russian authorities in Crimea and are being held in prisons”, he said.
Tomilenko noted that journalists detained since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukrainian territory are also in captivity. Among the recent media workers detained by occupiers is Victoria Roshchina, who went to fulfill her professional duty in the temporarily occupied territory, and communication with her was lost several months ago. In addition, the Russians are holding Irina Levchenko captive, who covered events in Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia.
Tomilenko also mentioned Dmitry Khilyuk, a journalist from the “UNIAN” news agency, who was taken captive by occupiers during the attempt to occupy Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Currently, he is in one of Russia’s prisons.
