Croatia to provide military aid of 30 million euros to Ukraine

This was announced today in Athens by the Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, following a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as reported by HRT.

According to Plenković, the Croatian government will clarify the details of this assistance during a meeting next Thursday.

“We have just concluded a meeting with the President of Ukraine and once again expressed our resolute support for Ukraine’s people, president, government, and all those who are fighting for Ukraine’s freedom and territorial integrity”, stated Plenković.

He also announced a significant international demining conference dedicated to Ukraine, scheduled for October. Croatia, along with other EU countries and international organizations, will initiate a process to aid Ukraine in demining. Croatia, unfortunately, possesses significant experience in this field.

The discussions also involved plans to use Croatian ports for the export of grain from Ukraine.

“Of course, the port of Rijeka is the main one. This needs to be coordinated with the countries participating in the transit to Croatia”, explained the Prime Minister.

Plenković mentioned that several thousand tons of grain have already been exported from Croatian ports. Most of it went to Italy, while some was sent to North Africa. However, given the new circumstances in the Black Sea region, this topic has once again become relevant.

Previously, Croatia allocated 1 million euros to the UN demining program in Ukraine.
