Death of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Version of assassination not confirmed

This was stated by the Prosecutor General, Andriy Kostin, in an interview with Ukrinform.

“Initially, I can say that the versions related to assassination attempts or attacks on the lives of state officials have not been confirmed. We will announce the final conclusions based on the results of the pre-trial investigation shortly”, he said.

The Prosecutor General clarified that at the beginning of the investigation, four main versions were considered: assassination attempt on state officials, including sabotage; aircraft shot down; a conflict situation on board the aircraft; pilot error, technical malfunction of the aircraft, improper flight planning, violation of flight rules, and adverse weather conditions.

He added that the investigation, carried out by experts from the interdepartmental investigative group composed of the main investigative departments of the State Bureau of Investigation and the Security Service of Ukraine, is ongoing. The Prosecutor General’s Office is providing procedural guidance.

It is also known that specialists from Airbus Helicopters and experts from the Ministry of Defense, National Police, and National Guard have been involved in the investigation. As of today, all necessary technical documents have been collected, and the necessary examinations are being completed.

As a reminder, on January 18, a helicopter crashed near a kindergarten in Brovary. The crash resulted in the death of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Monastyrsky, the First Deputy Minister, Yenin, and the State Secretary, Lubkovych. The leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was traveling on the helicopter on a mission to one of the “hotspots”.
