Russia wants to repeat the terror against Ukrainian energy this fall and winter

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced this during a meeting with the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities in Ivano-Frankivsk.

“It is evident that this autumn and, possibly, winter, the enemy will try to repeat the terror against Ukrainian energy. We must be prepared for this at the state and highest levels, as well as at the level of every city, village, and town”, he said.

As the President pointed out, the defense of the Ukrainian energy system has two elements: physical protection of energy facilities against missile and drone strikes, sabotage, and cyberattacks, as well as the management of the energy system and its specific parts, which should ensure energy generation and distribution even in wartime conditions.

“We will do everything possible at the government and security levels. The responsibility of communities is to provide maximum support to the defense and security forces, the government in energy protection measures, and the highest level of readiness for any complex challenges and emergencies in the energy sector”, Zelensky added.

As we reported, since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has repaired 14.5 thousand km of power lines, a number of substations, and electrical equipment damaged by Russian shelling.

Earlier, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal mentioned that Ukraine’s gas storage facilities have already been filled with 80% of the required amount of blue fuel. Additionally, there are 1.5 million tonnes of coal available in state reserves.
