Ethiopia and Zanzibar will create their own counterparts to the Ukrainian application “Diia”

Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, announced this at the conference “Diia in DC: Presentation of Ukraine’s Digital Achievements” in the United States, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

“Estonia has already adopted the codes of ‘Diia’ as the basis for creating its own state application. It is a high-quality product. Ethiopia and Zanzibar have also begun implementing ‘Diia.’ We are currently in negotiations with other countries to conclude similar agreements”, said the minister.

According to Samantha Power, the head of USAID, Ukraine has been known as the world’s breadbasket, exporting wheat and corn to nearby and distant countries. However, it is now becoming known for its new product.

“The Ministry of Digital Transformation is working to make ‘Diia’ an open-source tool accessible to other countries for the development of their civil infrastructure. And other countries, including management leaders like Estonia, are adopting this experience, adapting it to their own needs, and building something similar to ‘Diia’ within their own countries”, noted Power.

In January, USAID announced its support for countries that wish to advance through digital transformation and develop their e-governance capabilities. The agency is currently working with Colombia, Kosovo, and Zambia.

Samantha Power emphasized that the fund will continue to foster a close partnership with Ukraine in further developing “Diia.” Additionally, USAID intends to promote cooperation with other countries “so that Ukrainian leadership inspires new digital transformations globally”.

It should be noted that the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) plans to provide approximately $650,000 for the development of an equivalent to the Ukrainian application “Diia” in other countries worldwide.
