In Ukraine, a new concept for the development of aviation is being developed

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this following the results of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s briefing.

“We have started working on a comprehensive concept for the development of our aviation, taking into account the transition to new types of aircraft. This includes a new organizational structure, pilot training, necessary infrastructure, material and technical support, and more”, stated the President’s press service.

During the briefing, the Ministry of Defense also reported on the state of ammunition supply for frontline units and reserves. Existing and potential contracts for supply and the dynamics of increasing domestic production were analyzed.

It is worth noting that Ukraine is hoping to receive 40-50 F-16 fighters from allies. This was announced by Yuriy Sak, an advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine. With these aircraft, Ukraine plans to form three or four squadrons to protect its airspace from Russian bombings.

The Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and the Netherlands agreed to lead a “fighter coalition” to provide F-16s to Ukraine during their meeting on the sidelines of the Council of Europe summit in Reykjavik.

Some countries have already expressed readiness to train Ukrainian pilots, including Belgium.

Furthermore, Josep Borrell stated that Ukrainian pilots have already begun training on F-16 aircraft.

In addition, during an interview on the “Kyiv” TV channel, Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat stated that the presence of F-16 aircraft at Ukrainian airfields would deprive the Russian aviation of the ability to strike at the territories near the front line.
