The German government’s official website released the relevant information.
This package is part of Germany’s overall assistance to Ukraine, which exceeded €17 billion by the end of October 2023, making Germany the largest sponsor among EU countries, providing five times more aid than Denmark, the second-largest contributor.
The new aid package includes:
- 8 armored personnel carriers (the brand was not specified) – previously provided 16;
- 25 RQ-35 Heidrun reconnaissance drones – previously handed over 100;
- 16 Zetros trucks – previously provided 8;
- 5 vehicles for border service – previously transferred 243;
- 3 units of automotive transport – trucks, minibusses, all-terrain vehicles – previously provided 358;
- Ammunition for Leopard 1 tanks;
- 50 SatCom communication terminals – already provided 230;
- Demining materials;
- 500 LED lamps;
- 1,840 combat helmets – previously provided 31,350.
Since the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion, Germany has supplied various types of weaponry to Ukraine, including self-propelled howitzers PzH 2000, BMP Marder, anti-aircraft systems Gepard, air defense systems, MLRS, and Leopard tanks.
In December 2023, Germany promised to double its assistance to Ukraine in 2024, reaching €8 billion. On January 16, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that Germany plans to provide Ukraine with assistance totaling over €7 billion this year. According to reports from the Financial Times, Scholz initiated an audit of military aid to Ukraine, citing the deliveries of weapons as “too small”.
